Family Room Redesign – Before + After by Calgary Interior Designer

This family room redesign might be my favourite transformation in the whole house. Why? Because it was achieved using only new decor items.

I mentioned in the last post that the main level Great Room was intended as an adult space because the family room (or bonus room) was intended as the kids hang out space and a room the whole family could pile on couch in and watch movies together. My client had purchased almost all of her furniture before she’d met me so we obviously wanted to work with what she had. She loved this purple sectional for its fun colour and because all five of them could be on it  comfortably. Here is the before…

As you can see, the family room just needs some wow factor and feels a little too matchy and bland. Here are the after photos….

There you have it! A lighter cream area rug, fun fabrics on the sofa cushions, new wall sconces and draperies on the windows plus a bit of organization was the M.O. for this family room redesign. We are so pleased with the results we achieved and hope this family loves their hang out space!
