Answering Your Burning Questions

Today we are answering some questions that we often get as Interior Designers. We understand that there can be a lot of ambiguity surrounding the role we play in a renovation or new construction project and we want to clear that up for you!

Q: How long is the design process and how long does it take to get to completion?

The length of the design process varies depending on what you are hiring us for and how busy we are. We have a streamlined Design Process that we adapt to fit your needs. You can get a detailed understanding of that process here. After we have the information we need from you, we usually take about 6-8 weeks to design your spaces completely. We take an all encompassing approach that spares no detail so that when you see the design at presentation it is well rounded and every aspect is accounted for. This helps you visualize the complete space easier. If there is construction involved in your scope of work, completion is largely determined by that aspect and all of the moving parts that come with it. Once construction has started, it could take about 4-12 months depending on the size of your home / the extent of the work being done.

On our end, furniture lead times have a large role in determining the end date. Once we get your approval and furniture is ordered we can start to plan for install around the date those pieces are set to arrive. Unfortunately that time frame has been a lot longer than usual due to supply chain issues!

Q: What if I don't know what my style is? Can you help me figure that out?

Yes absolutely! A large part of our schooling trained us to think abstractly which is a huge aspect of how we pull your unique concept together. When we are getting to know you, we are pulling pieces of your personalities together and reflecting them in your design. We distill these factors into something more tangible and work them into the concrete requests you have made. We are always gathering information; from your home, how you describe it to us, what you feel it's missing, and visuals you are drawn to.

We always ask for pictures of spaces that you are drawn to and we like to discuss them with you because oftentimes it's more complex than “I like this living room”. Sometimes you can’t quite put your finger on what it is you like and those pictures are helpful to determine the feeling you want your space to evoke. You also don’t have to like everything about them and we can assure you, your space won’t look exactly like the pictures when it's complete so try not to overthink what you send us!

Q: What happens if you present something I don’t love?

All of the steps and circumstances we walked you through above help us to produce something we are confident you will feel reflects what you're looking for. We take great care in making sure you trust us with your home and your dreams for it. We ask questions and design for you not for us. We understand that this is a big deal and it's probably something you have been thinking about for a long time, therefore you have a lot invested in it. We don’t take that lightly. If at the presentation there are aspects you are hesitant about we take the time to talk it through and pinpoint what is missing and then make adaptations from there. We want you to be vocal about it too! You will not hurt our feelings and your contentment and excitement about your space is our highest priority.

Q: What services do you provide?

Concept Design - We pull together a meaningful direction for your space

3D Renderings - We provide a full digital rendering of your home so you can envision how each element comes together in the space and the visual weight it holds.

Furniture Installation - We schedule delivery and installation for all your furniture, lighting, art, drapery, etc, for the same few days so that we can set it up seamlessly for your big reveal.

Decorating, Styling + Accessories - We then finish off your space with those intricate details that pull it all together and make it feel complete when you walk through the door.

Q: What are the benefits of hiring an Interior designer?

We will manage the entire project for you! We keep track of all the details and are consistently visiting the site to make sure things are moving along smoothly. We have said it before and we will say it again; renovations are intrusive and taxing and we want to eliminate as much of that as possible so that you don’t have a stressful experience. The journey to your new space is incredibly exciting and we work hard to maintain the fun and keep moving toward the finish line by vetting questions from trades, problem solving, answering your questions, reassuring you that you made the right decisions, and clearly relaying information to you as it becomes relevant so that the process isn’t overwhelming.

If you have any other questions about what we do, we’d love to answer! Send us an email through our contact form or send us a DM through Instagram! We’re here to help alleviate any fears or hesitations you have about hiring us as your Interior Designer for your next project!
