A Few of Stephanie's Favourite Things

This week it is Stephanie’s turn to tell us about all of her favourite things! Be it food and beverage or design and decor, sit back and enjoy learning about our Principal Designer’s latest loves!

If you follow us on Instagram you’ll likely have seen Stephanie post about coffee in bed on Saturday mornings. Due to her 5:30 AM alarm Monday to Friday, come the weekend our lead designer insists on slow Saturday’s with coffee and books and Wordle in bed. The best espresso machine in her opinion is the DeLonghi Magnifica and her favourite beans, Kicking Horse Coffee CliffHanger Espresso. After playing Wordle and a little social media fix, you’ll find her on her Kindle reading a novel. Recent favourites include Kristin Hannah’s “The Four Winds” and Kelly Rimmer’s “The Things We Cannot Say”. Historical Fiction is always a winner in Stephanie’s books (you see what we did there?).

Shoes from Anthropologie

The above photo needs no explaining… Stephanie loves fun shoes! She’d go so far as to say it is a genetic condition that has been passed down for generations and will continue with her children’s children no doubt. These shoes are all from Anthropologie and if she had to pick just one, Stephanie would absolutely go for the pink and gold ones above.

Although summer usually means cold drinks, Stephanie is a die hard red wine fan. That said, she does have a few lighter wines that she fancies including a rosé and some bubbles. This rosé from Hillside Winery is one of Stephanie’s newly discovered favourites, even though she had a bottle in her wine fridge for nearly two years after taking a wine tour in and around Penticton, BC. She may have asked Kim to bring her back a case when she heads to Kelowna soon! Peace & Love & Bubbles is found at Ruby Blues Winery in the Naramata Bench which Stephanie discovered a few years ago on said wine tour. You can find their red wine Red Stiletto at a few wine stores around town and she highly recommends you try that one too.

Always on the hunt for gluten free dessert means when she finds one, Stephanie is instantly a super fan. The Guild used to have a GF chocolate cake on the menu but it’s been replaced with this Neopolitan Mousse that looks drool worthy. Made by Marcus lists their Gluten Free offerings on their website and you can be sure Stephanie will be trying this Moonshine Brown Butter Pecan ice cream ASAP! At her favourite restaurant Notable, there is not only a nearly all GF menu but also several desserts without gluten. If you’re staying for dessert, get the Warm Chocolate Pudding (they’ll do it To-Go if you insist you don’t care what it looks like) but if you’re like Stephanie and prefer dessert on the sofa in your sweats, get the Stilton Cheesecake. It’s not as strong as you may think a cheesecake made from stinky cheese may be!

Wallpaper, Countertops, Cabinets are on the must have list!

Lastly, Stephanie is scheming up an office renovation for the SCID Headquarters! Knowing she wants earthy green cabinets and after finding this wallpaper from York Wallcoverings the concept came together shockingly fast for a designer designing for herself! The team helped with the details of course so now it’s just a matter of timing it all so that our team can work remotely while construction ensues. New counters, cabinets, hardware and lighting are all on the agenda as well as a bathroom update for the team offices and we couldn’t be more excited to get to the finish line. Going through a renovation of our own will surely make us even more sympathetic to our clients when our lives are disrupted just like theirs are during the process. No pain no gain is what our mantra shall be! Wish us all the luck!
