Material Samples: Why are they Important?

TEXTURE + QUALITY

We want you to be able to see and feel the texture of the materials we have sourced which is why we always have them on hand at the client presentation.

The quality of the high end fabrics and hardwood floors, as well as hardware and tile is important to us. A rendering is great for bring it all together but it lacks depth and texture and those aspects make or break the design. A rendering is a loose representation, while the materials in front of you feel and look exactly like they will once they are installed in your home.

COLOR + VIBRANCY

Renderings can also lack accuracy when it comes to tone, colour and vibrancy. An image of a fabric can sometimes look nothing like the real thing. While time and effort is spent cultivating accuracy within the rendering, the physical materials help bridge the gap in visualization. Both renderings and materials are valuable but one with out the other would hinder the ability to accurately visualize.

VISUAL WEIGHT

The weight of each material and how it speaks to what’s surrounding it is communicated through the placement of the materials on the table and the size of the material itself. Accompanied with the rendering you are able to understand scale which is vital to visualizing the overall feeling of the space. There may be a very dark material on the table, but that doesn’t mean your space will be dark. This is determined by quantity and placement.

By providing 3D renderings, detailed elevations and floor plans as well as fabric and material samples we help you “see” what your home is going look and feel like before construction even begins.

There is nothing better than having our clients make laps around the presentation table and ask to see their renderings time and again!
