Maximalism in Moderation

The requirements for this project was unlike the majority of the requests we get. Colours of the sunset and playful prints were the order of the day and we are so pleased with the end result!

To be asked for bright colours and bold patterns was a request we could get excited about seeing as most of our Calgary design clients are more reserved in their design palettes. But as in any design (and perhaps even more so here) the challenge was to make it fun and youthful, but not tacky or trendy.

We also don’t get to design kids spaces very frequently although we adore doing so - so it was thrilling for us to flex our creative muscles and create a space that appealed to the young girl who would play here but also her parents while they hung out in the basement with her.

We coined this project #SCIDmaximalisminmoderation because even though it is heavy on pops of colour and fun patterns, the maximalist decor wasn’t overdone and stayed moderate enough to be a charming space for both young and old.
